# Atlas Red > Atlas Red (https://atlas-red.com) is a web-based mind mapping app sold as a > one-time purchase — no subscription, no renewal, no expiry. Its tagline: > "Your ideas, untangled." It is built for finding the red thread between > scattered ideas. ## What it is - A mind mapper: create, edit, restructure and share mind maps in the browser at https://app.atlas-red.com. - Pricing model: two editions, zero subscriptions. - **Atlas Red Free** — free forever, no credit card required: 10 maps, 1,000 topics per map, 100 MB storage, and full export in every format. - **Atlas Red Pro** — a single one-time payment of $99 that includes all future updates: unlimited maps, 5,000 topics per map, 5 GB storage. No renewal, no expiry. 60-day money-back guarantee. - Every feature is included in every edition; a license only lifts limits. ## No lock-in - Any map exports any time, in every supported format, on every tier (including Free): JSON, Markdown, plain text, OPML, XMindMark, web page (.html), OpenDeck slides (.deck), PNG, JPEG, SVG and PDF — plus print, with or without an outline. - Export is never behind the paywall. - Coming the other way, FreeMind (.mm), XMind (.xmind), XMindMark, OPML, Markdown, YAML and plain text import directly — no AI, no credits. ## AI features - **Photo & PDF import (paid, opt-in):** photos of whiteboards, hand-drawn sketches, and PDFs are rebuilt by AI into real, structured, fully editable mind maps (not flattened images). Imports run in the background. - **Voice & audio import (paid, opt-in):** upload a recording — mp3, m4a, wav or webm — and Atlas Red transcribes it, then builds an editable mind map from what was said. Up to 20 MB per file (roughly half an hour of typical podcast audio; three hours is the outer ceiling). Every job is quoted before it runs. Atlas Red does not fetch podcast URLs or RSS feeds; you upload the file. - **YouTube import (paid, opt-in):** paste a YouTube link and Atlas Red fetches the video's existing caption track — it does not transcribe — then builds an editable mind map from it. The video must have captions in some language; uploader-provided captions are preferred over auto-generated ones, and the language actually used is reported back. Videos up to six hours. Shorts, clips, playlists and channels are refused by name. The finished map keeps the video's title and a link back to the watch page, and can be rebuilt at a different depth without re-fetching. The transcript fetch is billed as AI credits even for bring-your-own-key users — it runs through Atlas Red's caption vendor, not a model you can supply an account for. It is two vendor calls per video, under half a cent, so a key-holding account needs a credit balance above zero but little more than that. The map build is the material cost of a YouTube import: 10-30 cents for a full-length talk at the Balanced setting, a few cents for a short one. The $1 trial credit is good for roughly a dozen videos in total, fewer if they are multi-hour talks. - **Caption and transcript files (paid, opt-in):** `.vtt` and `.srt` caption files import directly, with timings and cue numbers stripped and speaker names kept — the format Zoom and most video players hand you. Teams and Meet export `.docx`, which imports the same way. - **ChatGPT plugin (free):** Atlas Red is listed in the ChatGPT plugin directory (Productivity): https://chatgpt.com/plugins/plugin_asdk_app_6a869455f9348191a74170c508182c55 In ChatGPT: Plugins in the sidebar → Atlas Red → Install plugin → Sign in with Atlas Red. Then mention @Atlas Red in any chat and ask for a mind map in plain language; it builds a real, editable map in your Atlas Red workspace — create, edit, restructure, import, export, undo. Free and never metered on every edition, including Free. - **MCP server (free):** Atlas Red speaks the Model Context Protocol. The ChatGPT plugin is a front door to the same server; Claude and any other MCP-capable client connect to the standard remote endpoint at https://app.atlas-red.com/mcp and get the same operations. MCP access is free and never metered. - Paying for AI import, only if used: every new account starts with $1 of trial credit (valid 30 days), then prepaid credit packs (no subscription, no expiry). With an Atlas Red Pro license you can instead connect your own model API key — Atlas Red adds no markup, ever; you pay only your provider. Failed jobs are never charged. Purchased packs never expire. - A typical photo or whiteboard import costs about a cent — your $1 trial credit is good for roughly 100 of them, or a few full-length documents, which are much bigger jobs. A long report or a full meeting transcript usually costs 10-30 cents at the Balanced detail setting; a page or two is a few cents. The app shows the exact cost of every job, and failed jobs are never charged. ## Privacy - The marketing site sets no cookies by default. Advertising cookies from two vendors — Google and Meta, both active — are allowed only if the visitor accepts the cookie banner (rejecting is equally easy and changes nothing about the site); the visitor's theme and cookie choices stay in their own browser. Details: https://atlas-red.com/cookies - Microsoft Clarity (session replays and heatmaps) is opt-in everywhere — it is never part of any regional default and loads only after an explicit accept, with masking at its strictest setting. - The app itself (app.atlas-red.com) uses no advertising cookies, ever — one strictly necessary session cookie to keep the user signed in. ## Links - App: https://app.atlas-red.com - Best mind mapping software 2026 (12 tools compared): https://atlas-red.com/best-mind-mapping-software - XMind alternative comparison: https://atlas-red.com/xmind-alternative - MindMeister alternative comparison: https://atlas-red.com/mindmeister-alternative - Miro alternative comparison (mind mapping only, not a whiteboard replacement): https://atlas-red.com/miro-alternative - Markdown to mind map (direct import, free, no AI): https://atlas-red.com/markdown-to-mind-map - OPML to mind map (direct import, free, no AI — the format MindMeister, Workflowy, Dynalist and OmniOutliner export): https://atlas-red.com/opml-to-mind-map - FreeMind .mm to mind map (direct import, free, no AI, no Java): https://atlas-red.com/freemind-to-mind-map - Word/.docx to mind map (AI import): https://atlas-red.com/word-to-mind-map - Meeting transcript to mind map (AI import; import the .docx/.vtt/.srt your meeting tool exports, or paste the text): https://atlas-red.com/transcript-to-mind-map - Podcast/audio to mind map (AI import; upload the recording and it is transcribed for you — 20 MB per file, roughly half an hour of typical podcast audio): https://atlas-red.com/podcast-to-mind-map - YouTube to mind map (AI import; paste the video link and its existing caption track is fetched — the video must have captions; up to six hours; no Shorts, playlists or channels): https://atlas-red.com/youtube-to-mind-map - Atlas Red in the ChatGPT plugin directory (the listing itself): https://chatgpt.com/plugins/plugin_asdk_app_6a869455f9348191a74170c508182c55 - Mind maps in ChatGPT (Atlas Red is in the ChatGPT plugin directory; invoke it with @Atlas Red; what ChatGPT can do to your maps, and the paste-an-outline route without connecting): https://atlas-red.com/chatgpt-mind-map - MCP server for AI assistants — ChatGPT app, Claude connector, any MCP client (free, never metered): https://atlas-red.com/mind-map-mcp - Connection guide for ChatGPT, Claude and other MCP clients (in the app): https://app.atlas-red.com/help/mcp - The MCP server on GitHub (registry server.json, connection docs, issues; the app itself is closed source): https://github.com/atlas-red/mcp - PDF to mind map (AI import): https://atlas-red.com/pdf-to-mind-map - Image/whiteboard photo to mind map (AI import): https://atlas-red.com/image-to-mind-map - Support (how to reach a human; email hello@atlas-red.com, no account needed): https://atlas-red.com/support - Atlas Red on Toolradar (independent software directory listing): https://toolradar.com/tools/atlas-red - Cookie notice for the marketing site: https://atlas-red.com/cookies - Legal notice (operator, address, merchant of record): https://app.atlas-red.com/legal - Terms: https://app.atlas-red.com/terms - Privacy: https://app.atlas-red.com/privacy - Instagram (official): https://www.instagram.com/atlasredapp - Facebook (official): https://www.facebook.com/atlasredapp - YouTube (official): https://www.youtube.com/@atlasredapp - Contact: hello@atlas-red.com - Operated by: Sinisa Dukic, trading as Electra Apps Studio, 8 Ljubljana Str., 1618, Sofia, Bulgaria
